What We Provide for our Surrounding Community
Outside of campus, we offer microcredential classes and workshops for groups, businesses and organizations. We work to create specialized programming that is tailored to those we are working with. This can be for K-12 students, teachers, sports teams, businesses that work in stressful environments, non-profits and more.
In addition to these educational offerings, we host events through LiveWell, an initiative of the Pruitt Center, designed to foster connection, joy and overall well-being within the community.
Below is a list of classes, workshops and community events we provide.
LiveWell

Since its launch in Fall 2022, LiveWell has provided opportunities for our community to connect, find joy and enhance their well-being. Led by UW-Superior faculty and staff, and supported by the Miller-Dwan Foundation, Essentia Health St. Mary’s Superior Hospital, the Superior Rotary and many community partners, LiveWell has hosted 141 events with over 1,100 participants.
Beginning in 2025, LiveWell will continue to grow and expand its reach as part of the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being. This exciting transition aligns perfectly with the Center’s mission and opens new opportunities for enhancing well-being throughout our community.
We are grateful for the continued support from our philanthropic partners to make this possible. Explore the LiveWell calendar to discover upcoming events near you.

Our Benefactors
The Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being would never have been possible were it not for the generous support of our benefactors, Becky and Doug Pruitt.
The Pruitts’ tremendous generosity, dedication and commitment to education and a culture of compassion and caring led to the establishment of the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being at UW-Superior. Becky (Black) Pruitt is a medical technology and biology alumna of UW-Superior. She also received her master’s degree in human science from Saybrook Graduate School. Doug graduated from Oklahoma State University with an AS degree in civil technology and later graduated from the University of Phoenix in business administration. They currently split their time between Paradise Valley, Arizona, and Knife River, Minnesota.
After working as a medical technologist for several years, Becky became a stay-at-home mom raising two children while continuing her love for learning. She has been an active volunteer on many boards in the Phoenix area as well as the UW-Superior Alumni Association. Her dedication to mindfulness and well-being also includes serving on the advisory board for the Greater Good Science Center, UC-Berkeley and the Center for Mindfulness, Compassion and Resiliency at Arizona State University. Doug spent his career with the Sundt Construction family for 45 years, serving as Chairman and CEO from 1998 until his retirement, and continues serving on many business and community boards.
