Get Credit for What You’ve Already Learned
Credit for Prior Learning (also known as Prior Learning Assessment) offers students with significant life and work experience the chance to earn college credit by demonstrating what they have learned. It is the philosophy of UW-Superior to allow students to pursue credit by examination opportunities to broaden students’ educational opportunities and accelerate their progress toward completion of degree requirements.
Ways to Earn Credit for Prior Learning
UW-Superior offers many ways to earn Credit for Prior Learning:
- Credit through exams. Exams offered variously across academic departments, as well as standardized exams. Contact the department’s Chair to see if a challenge exam is offered for the course(s) you are interested in.
- Military/ACE credits processed through the Registrar’s Office. Discuss these options with your advisor and the Registrar’s Office.
- A portfolio of your work can be reviewed and considered for credit by an academic department
