The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host more than 100 of the best high school musicians from throughout the Northland for the Tri-State Band Festival on Thursday, October 19.

Students will rehearse with UW-Superior Music Department faculty and guest clinician Austin Brake

A Doctor of Musical Arts student at the University of Houston specializing in wind conducting and music theory, Brake brings a rich background in music education and composition. He currently serves as a teaching assistant for the Spirit of Houston Marching Band, University of Houston Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band and undergraduate conducing classes.

The day will conclude with a public concert at 7 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium featuring both high school and UW-Superior musicians. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for students. Thorpe Langley Auditorium is in Old Main at 1710 Weeks Ave.
