Student artist exhibits creative work at Jim Dan Hill Library

The University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Jim Dan Hill Library will host an exhibition of large-scale abstract multi-modal works by emerging artist and UWS student, Wendy Gomez. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 17, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the library’s second floor.

The exhibition highlights Gomez’s artistic journey and serves as a testament to the vibrant creative community at UW-Superior. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Gomez, learn about her process and experience the beauty of her ethereal paintings.

“My aim is to invite others to experience the same sense of liberation and playfulness that fuels my process,” said Gomez.

Her work is created by “incorporating collage, acrylic, charcoal and pastels to create layered, dynamic compositions.” Many of the works suggest an interplay of imagination and the natural world and feature pastel hues of pink, blue, purple and white with splashes of bold reds and greys.

Gomez, a talented student artist, was awarded the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) grant to explore her creative vision over the summer of 2024.
