The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will present Hector Landa, piano, for its University Recital Series on Thursday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium. This event was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 4, but was rescheduled due to winter weather.
“This is going to be my first full-length solo recital on campus since 2019, which makes me very happy,” said Landa, assistant professor of piano at UW-Superior.
The program will begin with Mexican music, featuring the works of a diverse group of composers.
“In the second half, I will present a quite unique composition written by French composer Luc Ferrari, a suite of 36 miniatures written for piano and a recorded track,” said Landa. “Ferrari mixed references to Bach, Brahms, Liszt and Schumann with avant-garde language in a very personal and effective way. To the best of my knowledge, this will be the first performance in the U.S.”
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Thorpe Langley Auditorium is in Old Main, 1710 Weeks Ave.
