The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will hold its Jazz Vocal Extravaganza at The West Theatre in Duluth on Thursday, December 15, at 7:30 p.m.
“We’re really excited to go back to The West Theater,” said Greg Kehl Moore, professor of music and jazz program director. “We thought it was a great venue to feature these singers that normally wouldn’t get an opportunity like this.”
The evening will feature student singers Kendrick Anderson, Seth Gudmunsen, Sawyer Jones and Derek Ruport with the UW-Superior Jazz Band performing music from Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington and Bobby Darin. High school singer Cate Peterson will perform “Deedle’s Blues” by Count Basie.
Instrumental pieces will include “Haitian Fight Song,” by Charles Mingus, “Ran Kan Kan,” by Tito Puente and “Home at Last,” by Steely Dan.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. The West Theatre is located at 319 N. Central Ave. in Duluth.
