About

Kristopher was a postdoctoral research fellow at Syracuse University and Indiana University. He previously was an Associate Professor of Biology at Judson College.

Research Interests

Research in Kristopher’s lab focuses on the genetic regulation of organismal development using the ovary of the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster as an experimental model. Fruit fly research has played an essential role in advancing our understanding of genetics for over a century. The ovary of the fruit fly in particular is an amenable model system, as many of the same cellular processes that occur in embryonic development also occur in the ovary during oogenesis.

Kristopher is passionate about providing research opportunities for undergraduates. Students in his lab gain experience in fluorescence microscopy and other modern research techniques.  Students are also provided opportunities to present their research at scientific conferences.
