UW-Superior students present research at Wisconsin Economic Association Conference

Two of University of Wisconsin-Superior School of Business and Economics (SBE) students, Pratham Mundra and Usman Ahmad, presented their Summer Undergraduate Fellowship Research (SURF) at the 2024 Wisconsin Economic Association (WEA) Conference, October 25 to 26, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Mundra’s summer research was titled, “Building Resilient Communities Against Heatwaves in South Asia: Understanding the Role of Stakeholder Collaboration using the TEAM Framework.”

Ahmad’s summer research is based on his 2024 SURF work on, “External Debt and Economic Growth: A Cross-Country Analysis on South Asia.”

Both students are mentored by SBE sustainable management and economics faculty, Professor Sakib Mahmud.

At the WEA conference, Mahmud presented his co-authored work on the impacts of the seasonality of flu on stock prices.

“Personally, I felt both students did an excellent job,” said Mahmud. “Usman presented his work virtually since he could not physically attend the event.”
