The University of Wisconsin-Superior Theatre Department will present “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind,” an ensemble experiment in presenting 30 plays in 60 minutes. Performances, directed by UW-Superior assistant professor of theatre Sean Naughton, will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 17, 18 and 19, and at 2 p.m. October 20 in the Experimental Theatre Lab.
The original production of “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind,” written by Greg Allen, opened in 1988 and is still playing today as the longest-running show in Chicago history.
“Each two-minute play is performed in random order with an interactive audience,” said Naughton. “An onstage 60-minute timer keeps everyone honest. This collection of comic, tragic, political, personal, and abstract plays gives actors the chance to program a unique evening of 30 Neo-Futurist plays to reflect the lives and experiences of our own world.”
Tickets for “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind” are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $5 for students with a valid UW-Superior ID. Tickets may be purchased at the box office in the Holden Fine Arts Center and online. Reservations can be made at (715) 394-8369. The Experimental Theatre Lab is in Room 2131 of the Holden Fine and Applied Arts Center at 1805 Catlin Ave. in Superior.
