Applying to UW-Superior
How do I file my Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA)?
You can complete your FAFSA at www.studentaid.gov/FAFSA. It is typically available each year on October 1st for the next school year. You need to complete it every year. Our priority deadline is January 15th each year.
How do I make corrections/updates to my Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)?
You may make your corrections on the FAFSA website. You will need your FSA ID to access your record.
If you have any specific questions about the FAFSA, call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 800-4-FED-AID (800-433-3243) / TTY: 800-730-8913 or 319-337-5665.
Examples of corrections might include adding a school code, family size, etc. There are items, such as income or cash/savings that should not be updated and are meant to be a snapshot in time as of the day you originally file your FAFSA.
What if my FAFSA isn’t a reflection of my current financial situation?
The FAFSA is based on tax information from a prior-prior year. If there has been a significant change in income or family demographics, for example, you may want to reach out to our office and speak with a counselor to determine if a re-evaluation of your eligibility is warranted.
How do I access my financial aid offer?
You will receive an email with your financial aid offer once your eligibility has been determined. To accept or decline your aid, you will need to visit your E-hive student center. Please refer to Self-Service instructions for assistance.
How do I get a Summer financial aid offer?
Once a student is enrolled for Summer and has a FAFSA on file for the current academic year, they will automatically receive a Summer financial aid offer if they have remaining aid eligibility.

Tuition and Bills
How does my financial aid change if I drop a class, and/or drop below full-time?
If you add or drop a class in which you’ve established attendance and your financial aid has already disbursed, it will not be adjusted up or down. However, your progress (credits attempted vs. credits earned) is monitored, and dropping classes after the census date of the course may have an effect on your eligibility for future financial aid, as explained in the Satisfactory Progress Policy.
If you withdraw from school or are administratively dropped (university drops you from a class based on non-attendance the first day of class), you may be required to pay back some or all of your financial aid, according to our Return of Title IV Funds Policy.
Where can I get more information regarding my student loans?
To see how much you are receiving in student loans for this academic year, you may check your financial aid offer on your student center in E-Hive.
You may also see the total you have borrowed in federal loans by visiting studentaid.gov.
When will my financial aid disburse?
Generally, aid will disburse the week before the start of your first class, provided you are enrolled in the correct number of credits and have no outstanding items on the To Do list in your student center.
I received Work Study, why was it not applied to my bill?
Work study does not apply to a student’s bill. A work study offer allows a student to be employed in a work study position, on campus or in select off-campus positions. Once employed, a student earns these funds and are paid in the form of a bi-weekly paycheck up to the amount of accepted work study.
Why is my financial aid different from last year?
Changes in family or student income are usually the cause of changes in aid from year to year. Specific reasons for aid changes can be provided through consultation with a financial aid counselor, who will review your file to compare the yearly income and demographic information.
